Teaneck church youth hope to donate 300 pairs of shoes

Young people from St. Peter's Mar Thoma Church in Teaneck scrubbed cars Saturday to raise money to buy shoes for disaster victims around the world.

"It's a basic necessity that we take for granted," said Mathew. "We just put on our shoes. These kids suffer and it's something preventable if we donate our shoes. On top of that, I was reading that some kids can't go to school if they don't have shoes. We're trying to make the world a better place."
