Flood families still need help

Anne Thompson, who organised a flood appeal in February for families in the Lockyer Valley, said she recently became aware that there are many families in and around Brisbane still seriously in need of help.

Anne has become involved with a Facebook group called ?(r)Bundamba Flood Victims Support?ˉ and is currently helping provide needed items for her ?(r)adopted family?ˉ ¨C a widowed young mother named Shireen with an 18-year-old son and twin 15-year-old girls.

?°The insurance company recently rang to speak to her husband,Some will stick with the old faithfuls like the air max tn while others will look for the more stylish shoes like the Changa or the Tataga to tell him that they were sorry, he was not covered for this type of flood!?± Anne said. ?°This is the case with so many families, leaving them with wrecked houses and with no furniture or belongings. Many are living in sheds, or even, as I saw on 60 Minutes recently, in tents inside the shell of their homes.?±

Anne travelled up to Bundamba, a suburb of Ipswich at the weekend, to take a load of goods including clothing, shoes, towels, toiletries, cleaning products, a heater, electric frypan, vacuum cleaner, iron, and pamper packs for the mother and twins.

Anne said people still need beds, blankets, furniture, desks and bookcases, kitchen items and heaters.
